  1. Yeah have lager, bit this is specifically for Guinness on tap
  2. Yes this is what I mean, a mini cask, with a flow system. This is what I’m looking for. Pubs have usual cans, but it’s the flow system I’m looking for. No, they just have cans
  3. Really? On tap? That’s so great. Many places have it in a can, but on tap is great
  4. Well he hasn’t drunk alcohol for over 2 years, so think he would know 🤦‍♂️😳
  5. Hi all Has anyone seen Guinness 0.0 on tap in any pubs. A few have cans, but I mean the actual tap system. A friend of mine said he had one in a pub in the Dulwich area but can’t remember where! Thanks all
  6. This is not true. There was a huge meeting, very well advertised and 90-95% of the people in the meeting wanted the zone. Those that didn't cited the cost generally. There was a huge (typically middle class) outpouring of support for it. richard tudor Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > You have to remember they will ask for a > consultation and ask for votes/survey to be sent > via email. 9. I agree with Jlee. I voted several years ago against a CPZ and now we have no option but to have it. It DOES have a massive impact on the traffic that comes into the area (se Holmedene road and Ruskin walk). Since the CPZ in Lambeth over the other side of Herne Hill it is impossible to park during the day and not fair, for elderly people and families. Also to note and pointed out by Southwark council 23% was the highest ever for a parking consultation acorns to the council, if you consider how many households own cars and can be bothered to get involved. The issue we face is many commuters who live further out come and dump the cars on our roads to save on the cost of transport (we are in zone 2) and also people with CPZ park to avoid paying their fee. Of course it will massively impact Dulwich village and East Dulwich and you will undoubtedly be campaigning for your own CPZ, good luck!
  10. A lot of the people campaigning to keep it a music venue of sorts are people like me with families. Can't people with families go and watch live music? Honestly some of the comments from people in East Dulwich are bonkers! It has been mentioned many times that the reason the music stopped was because the whole area was hit by a flood which damaged loads of businesses. It was doing very well as a venue that served drink, good food and music. Why can't a gastro pub have regular music as well (something fullers does in many of their pubs) Jeremy Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Yep, my gut instinct is that while the average > Herne Hill resident might love the idea of having > a local music venue, in practise they might not > use it a lot. BTW the news that it will reopen as a pub is "news." Until we started the campaign to get the ACV notice there were real doubts about a pub, let alone the (small) potential of a music/comedy venue being saved at all. Dulwich Estates would have done their normal half-arsed attempt at something not suitable for the area and made a mess of it, while making as much money as possible. Also people's opinions on pubs being good or not are dependant on the type of people who go. I personally think the Florence and Bishop are not very good at all, I could be stronger in my language, though for the purposes of this post I choose not to. Clearly lots of people disagree with me, as they seem to do very well. This post is about trying to keep a major part of our community in tact after a very turbulent time for all the businesses in Herne Hill (after the flood) so posting comments about it being "utterly shite" are a bit strong.
  12. The pub for many years was not the greatest at all, like the Commercial, Florence and countless others in East Dulwich. But like those it had improved a lot and prior to the pub was a great venue both at the front and back. They were serving delicious pizzas and good beers at pretty decent prices. Fullers has form for keeping live music in their pubs, so we are hopeful. Compared to where we were a few months ago with the idea of another swanky boutique hotel or flats nobody could afford, progress has been made. Just glad a pub where Frank Sinatra sang is being saved! http://www.standard.co.uk/news/london/half-moon-pub-set-to-reopen-three-years-after-it-was-closed-because-of-floods-a3149226.html
  13. Brilliant guys well done!
  14. Dear all I know this is an East dulwich Forum, but us Herne Hillers go out in Herne Hill a lot and I'm sure people in East Dulwich go out in Herne Hill too. I'm hoping that some of you will sign the petition to save the Half Moon pub. The Half Moon has hosted live music since the 1950's, when Frank Sinatra dropped by after a London show to visit his old chauffeur and sing a number. Musicians who played here and went on to become famous include Eric Clapton, U2, Billy Bragg, The Police, and Paloma Faith. Celebrated comedians, including Mark Lamarr, Eddie Izzard and Jo Brand have also performed stand-up comedy here. Just today we received word that we have got ACV (Access of community value) from the council meaning Dulwich estates have to consult about any proposed plans. To date they have wanted to get rid of the music venue at the back and do another pub/restaurant. Many of us in Herne Hill think this is a bad idea for such an iconic music/comedy venue. Read all about it here. Apologies if this is already somewhere on the forum, but could not find it easily. http://www.hernehill.org.uk/news/boris-johnson-save-half-moon-pub-herne-hill-se24-live-music-venue
  15. All This did happen I think. I live on Frankfurt Road and my wife is at home on maternity leave. She was having a meeting with a builder and they suddenly heard screams, it took them a minute or two to realise something was going on and after 5 minutes 2 police cars turned up outside a house a few along from us. My wife thought it was some sort of domestic thing at the house, but clearly this is what it could have been. There are a lot of school kids who walk up and down our road.
