What was the name of the shop down at the bottom end of NX rd that sold bits of furniture and ‘objets’? Was one of the first ‘saw you coming’ shops before ED, Mrs Robinson etc moved in.

Excellent news. That side of the Rye is horrible to cycle up.

Greendale used to be part of my regular cycle route, but I would never use it after dark. I have a woman’s innate suspicion of quiet back routes and I never cycle after dark on a path I wouldn’t be happy to walk on. Far safer to stick to main roads where there are plenty of people about.

Another recommendation for Greg. Came out at very short notice and did a great job at sorting out our kitchen tap.

We’ve had one for years and I’d thoroughly recommend it. It wasn’t til it had to be unplugged for a kitchen renovation that I remembered what a pain it was constantly having to deal with limescale. We haven’t had any noticeable difference in water pressure, either. Ours is a Harvey’s. We’ve had it around 12 years and have never had any issues with it.

I used to do Greendale, then wiggle through the alley and past Bessemer Grange to Redpost Hill, over the top of Redpost and then Loughborough, Akerman, Eythorne to Vassal road, then along Brixton Road to the Oval and up to Vauxhall Bridge. It’s not particularly quiet but it’s pretty quick.

I’ve been using them from the start as well and have always had excellent service there.

Depressing to read the attitude to climate change protest here. People have spent decades playing nicey nicey and nothing has changed for the better, it?s just got worse and worse. The planet is in crisis and drastic action is needed. But no, let?s get our knickers in a twist about a few tents on the Rye. Those who are wondering why the council is ?allowing? it? They?ve presumably sensibly realised that applying to court for an eviction notice and engaging bailiffs to carry out the eviction isn?t particularly cost effective when it?s a peaceful encampment that will move on in two weeks. If there is any anti-social behaviour then it wil be for the police to move them on, not the council.
