  1. I cannot imagine why anyone would object to a new tube line. I wish we had had one in ed when we were promised in 1997
  2. is the ice cream place up towards ed station still there?
  3. to be clear, does the original poster think it is ok for him to carry a weapon to protect himself in the woods, on peckham rye or anywhere else he feels under threat? and does minder really believe that joggers are a major threat to his/her safety? perhaps both questioners should have a bit of a lie down for a few hours.
  4. the continuing dereliction and emptiness of what used to victoria wine (apart from a brief excursion into cannabis farming!!) is as puzzling as it is unwelcome. apparently, owner of the freehold is now very old, but I am told still insists that it can only be an off licence and that the manager must live in the flat above. the lease is owned by (I think) punch taverns who find it cheaper to continue to leave it empty and just run down the lease. it is a great shame because, even in these tough times, many would like to take over a retail business in such a prime spot.
  5. I have no objection to a 20mph limit. but will southwark enforce it? can they enforce it without trebling the wage bill of traffic management?
  6. all grist to the forum dog haters' mill. do we actually know that the original story was true or just tall?
  7. the crane at the baptist church is blocking reception. there will be no prompt action. bt estimate a month!! a pox on merry xmas for bt and vodofraud
  8. the former chez nico (or at least one of its chefs) is now le chardon and very nice it is too
  9. ed has definitely NOT started to decline. new businesses will replace the old. life will go. many of us LL traders are actually experiencing a small upturn on last xmas. I take this as an encouraging sign. it will go on being hard work, but when it is your own small independent biz you get stuck in, keep calm and carry on. before anyone asks, we have run celestial for 12 years and look forward to another 12 at least!
  10. have just finished the umpteenth phone call to bt about the total lack of coverage in the scutari-mundania area. they told me that vodophone now admits damage to their mast on forest hill road. this would be something to do with the mast being atop of the baptist church which has been knocked inside out for conversion into flats. we all know this, so why have they continually insisted that coverage is excellent. I have changed by blackberry for a new model cos of them. nice new phone, but there was nothing wrong with the old one. jjst cheer up fellow vodophone sufferers, they will have to design a new mast and "it will not be a quick job". god bless us every one. except for vodo-effimg-phone
  11. is anyone else having a bad time with network coverage. I have a brand new blackberry that remains stuck on sos calls only because there is "no network coverage in your area". my area is alongside peckham rye park and I have never had a problem before. mind you, the broadband is much given to imposing the multi coloured pizza wheel of doom on every google attempt.
  12. sazzle30... have you ever thought of keeping your gate shut. dogs are notoriously bad at opening the catches
  13. we have lived in ed since 1988 and consider it our home forever. when we first arrived it was frankly a bit grotty, but it gradually smartened thank god. happily we retain majority small independent traders, but there are warning signs. I am told the appalling starbucks are in hot pursuit of the slightly puzzling fashion shop next door to the edt. let us hope the proprietor does not have to give in. like most of us, we would love waitrose to replace the frankly grotty co-op.
  14. shame the email link does not work as I offered my services
  15. celestial have had their windows done by a display lady this year. looks good shop is packed with goodies too
  16. as the owner of a small shop on the lane, established here for more than 11 years, may I ask all the nice ladies and gentlemen to make us a christmas shopping destination? this year has been particularly cruel to your local traders. so, don't trek up to the west end or a mega shopping centre... come to us. you will very reasonable prices, great service and, most important, you will have fun. we are all here ready for you, with well stocked shelves and a warm welcome. I am now off to open up. we all look forward to seeing you!
  17. this woman has been selling big issue outside the co-op for years, probably since the youngish man with dog disappeared.
  18. what I find offensive is that this cr*p is miles from the subject in hand, ie the utter desirability of M&S instead of the abysmal iceland
  19. wildflower..... you will be distressed to learn that she is, in fact the "lady" I referred to. the dog's name, in fact, is Sweet Pudding. you couldn't make it up
  20. thank god `I've never met her... unless she has a bag of some sort of and sits on the grass by the overgrown area at the bottom of hill facing peckham rye. if it her steer clear, she is "unwell". did you catch the dog's name at all?
  21. here we go. a cat is attacked by a "pit bull" and this is, of couse, all absolutely awful. but is is just yet another trigger for the dog-haters of the forum to slip their leash and start calling for dogs to on leads at all times and probably banned from the parks (as cropped up a few years ago when the then tory-lib council came close to bringing it in). what happened to the cat was horrible, but no reason to clamp down on every dog. was it really a pit bull? more likely a staff. staffs are not popular with the peckham rye park dog walking fraternity. we can all agree that the attack on the little cat was appalling. but we should not let it hurtle away into a dog-haters jamboree
  22. there are some really stoopid twats (ken) posting on here, trying to bring in posh toff references and dumb digs at the middle class majority who quite like latte and nice bread. do pipe down, love, you are deeply boring
  23. I have lived in scutari for 8 years and have been pressing the council for some means of reducing speeds. it is a long, wide road and is used as a rapid rat run morning and evening. the so-called bumps put in today are waste of time and our money. they hardly qualify as bumps at all, so weeny are they. note johnie... there were no speed bumps on scutari at all before this rubbish attempt.
  24. you obviously haven;t been reading the trains uproar... or the m&s hooha
