  3. I just found out last Thursday that my daughter has a milk intolerence, she is now 17 months old and this has only just been diagonosed. She was formula fed as a baby and had no problems keeping the milk down but as soon as I switched her to cow's milk she spent her days vomiting, whilst waiting for her appointment to come through at the allergy clinic (she's with Evelina Children's Hospital) I switched her onto Semi-Skimmed milk and whilst she was still vomiting it wasn't as servere as it was with the full fat. Like mentioned in an earlier post almost everything contains milk or lactose, so this last week I have been trawling the local supermarkets looking for alternatives, especially some crisps which taste like her beloved Quavers did, she's really not enjoying Hula Hoops. Unfortunately my daughter will only except the Soya Milk if her weetabix have been mixed in with it. I have even tried putting strawberry flavour milkshake powder in and she still won't accept it. Sainsburys sell Alpro chocolate or strawberry flavoured milk which I thought that she might like but she takes one drop and throws the cup across the room, does anyone else have any other tips that I could try. And I'm really not up for just giving it to her and she'll soon get used to it, it's heartbreaking to hear her sobbing at bedtime because all she wants is her bottle of warm milk. I also manged to find so frozen sausage rolls in sainsburys (which daughter likes to have at lunch with ketchup) which didn't contain any dairy! A little tip that you may find useful if you have any allergy sufferers in the house is, my daughter has a shelf in the cupboard, the fridge and a drawer in the freezer which contains all foods that she is allowed to eat. At least then you don't have to dig through everything and keep reading labels when trying to rustle up a meal espically if your in a hurry. It was also handy when my friend was babysitting her for me the other day, that I could just turn around and say that anything on those partiular shelves were fine for her to eat, it def put my friend at ease, and me as well for that matter. She is going to be kept off milk for 4 months and then we got to go back and see the dietician. Hopefully this may also do my waistline some good as I don't like to eat chocolate, biscuits etc in front of her which she won't be able to eat and found this week my shopping trolley looked much more healthier!!
  4. thanks for the link, we will def be using that today. My daughter is 16 months! She seems to be much brighter and happier today, back into mischief so well on the road to recovery. When her temp was up I found that Ibuprofen and Calpol alone bought it down, and I stripped her down and put on the fan for her.
  5. Just a lil update on my daughter, she woke up this morning with spots all over her, which I thought was the start of chicken pox but after a visit from doctor it turns out she is having a reaction from the Tamiflu. Been told to keep her on it, and if she gets any worse than to call them back and she'll have to come off it! Beggining to wonder now if I have done the right thing by giving her the Tamiflu, first the vomiting now this. But also wonder if her body would have been able to fight this off on it's own!! AAARRRRGGGGHHHHH
  6. Try this lady Sophie, she is a freelance hairdresser so will come to you and also works in the Barbers in Dulwich at weekends. She has a 2 yo so is pretty experienced in cutting kiddies hair, my friend goes to her with her 2 young boys too. 07737763559
  7. My daughter got diagonosed with it yesterday. She slept in quite late (which is unuasual for her) and when she did finally wake up after an hour she was asleep again. I noticed that she was coughing and getting hot so took her temp which was 39. She also had a runny nose. I called my doctors and they asked me to bring her in before surgery started. That was when she was prescriced the Tamiflu! I'm not worried about her but as pebbles and carrieon23 both said it is so awful to she her so unwell and no energy to do anything, all she could manage yesterday when she was awake was just to lay on the sofa and watch tv. In the leaflet that comes with the Tamiflu they say one of the side effects is vomiting which usually occurs after the first dose, which unfortunately happened with my daughter (she could have put the actress from the exorcist to shame!!!). I gave her the tablet by breaking the capsule and mixing it in with a spoonful of yoghurt which she took no problem. We both had an awful night last night, I put her in bed with me so I could keep an eye on her temp and she woke up every half hour throughout the night which has completley drained me out, at one point her temp went up to 41 but ibuprofen calmed that down!! She was crying out in her sleep too which was quite distressing! Luckily my mum came round this afternoon to sit with her so I could catch up on some sleep in case we have the same problem tonight. But fingers crossed today she seems a lot perkier and has managed to play with some toys today, although we have had 1 episode of vomiting. The only thing that is going to get me is the staying in for 5 days, so any suggestion to keeping myself amused would be great - sadly I decluttered the wardrobe last week so that's off the list of things to do!! I myself feel fine although saying that I was poorly last week and doctor thinks I may of had swine flu but just treated it like a cold, who knows. Hopefully your son/daughter doesn't come into contact with it, but I am pretty certain at some point everyone will of had it!
  8. My mum is my soul mate, hardly a day goes by when I don't see her. Since I had my daughter we both became really close. I am a young single mum and my mum was/is my rock throughout my pregnancy and is the most fantastic Nanny I could wish for, for my daughter. We are so alike and both like to play the same practical jokes on people. When we are together all we do is laugh. People say we are like Twins as we are regualry known to say the same thing at exactl the same time in situations! I hope I can be as fab a mum to my lil one as my mum is to me, and I hope that I am an inspiration to my daughter, and that we have the same bond me and my mum have (awwww, Love you Mum x.x.x)
