  1. A few summers ago I had bought many pairs of shoes into the kitchen ready for a mass clean. It was only sometime later I realised that only one or two odd shoes remained. I too thought I had gone a bit crazy until I started to find them chewed up in various parts of the garden. In fact, odd ones still appear on the lawn even now. Cheeky fox had sneaked in through the open door and must spent the time coming and going to snatch and collect his pile of new toys. They cost me a fortune to replace but even worse is the look of 'the poor old thing is losing it' when I tell visitors not to leave their shoes too near the back door because of foxy activity. It helped me to make sense of the ominous lone shoes you sometimes walk past on the street, they are not the result of some evil abduction or a human tragedy but merely a dropped chewie.
  2. Dear Straferjack If you are 'Southwark councillor and member of the ruling labour party' as Penguin68 says, you should be ashamed of your council and your party. I'm in Oglander, one of the two roads sandwiched between the zones and will feel the impact far far worse than others. I have repeatedly emailed my councillor, Veronica Ward (who was at meetings with Southwark officials and could have said that the design was illogical) and other Labour councillors. They all can't be bothered to reply. I guess as a lifelong labour supporter who actually does vote in every election, I'm not worth it.
  3. I remember the previous consultation well because we WERE consulted unlike this time. Living in Oglander near Grove Vale, we live much nearer the station than many people within this proposed CPZ. Why didn't you do a consultation within a equal arc of distance and then draw up a plan? or is that too logical and fair.
  4. Dear Swagstar CPZ = Controlled Parking Zone! Check out the other threads in this general section of the Forum. No surprise you don't know, unless you live inside the exact roads your only way of knowing is tatty bits of paper hanging upside down from a lamp post near Goose Green. You need to find out about it because it will have a huge impact on all in the area.
  5. I went to the Library on Saturday. I, like most of the people posting, am against the CPZ and living in Oglander think that we and Everthorpe will suffer more than anyone. Saila's post above that "They also acknowledge that the design is somewhat illogical with respect to the streets in the V-shaped cutout (Oglander, Everthorpe etc). They would have preferred to include additional streets including Oglander, Everthorpe etc, but the available budget does not allow." is interesting. I kept asking why we were excluded and got no direct answer. The budget point was not raised only that it was drawn up in meetings with our councillors (James Barber and Veronica Ward) so it is in effect a political decision and not one that the officials feel is logical. When I put this point, the official didn't deny it. Veronica Ward is the councillor for our 'V shaped exclusion' and I presume feels that people in Oglander & Everthorpe don't vote for her anyway. Her email is [email protected] but judging my my own experience can't be assed answering emails about this subject, maybe she is too busy with Olympics jollies. Her mail address is 160 Tooley Street,SE1 2QH - maybe she might respond to post. I'm not saying that James Barber is any better, I'm sure he feels he is defending his political vote as well. I must say the officials baring the brunt of complaints on Saturday were polite but thought it was absolutely fine the way they had consulted (and that is truly insulting). Even a idiot looking at their display boards with before and after photos from streets that had had a CPZ imposed could see that the photographs were taken at completely different times of day. I think it is a complete stitch up and I'm sure they feel we are too stupid to react in any effective way.
  6. Can I add my thanks too. The site admin and all the people adding to the forum have been just amazing.
  7. I think we have two forms of defence. The first is to all get out and stand in LL when trouble is threatened. Three or four hundred people will show thirty little brats that they cannot expand their territory, dominate and disrespect us. The second defence is to use the digital realm and fight back. Lets take a million images of each of the little sods and identity them and make fun of them online. These forms of defence sound weak but could be very powerful. These prats have a romantic notion they are dangerous street fighters, years of mugging people and posing with guns have lead to them thinking they can get away with it. The reality of the sad little f**ks, if you got them by themselves is that they would wet themselves. They have power by being in a feral group, lets find out who they are and dishonour them, make fun of them. Like most bullies they can't take being named or shown in a bad light. It is beyond belief that we should be frightened of them. Taking the piss out of them is the only way. Lets organise and get everyone out. If nothing else, we can have a good party. Remember if you see a few kids trying to look hard, take their photo, they will scatter.
