A big shout out and recommendation for Dan at Top Signal Service (www.topsignalservice.co.uk - 0795 766. 4001). Dan responded quickly to sort out our aerial problems, he was brilliant , a pleasure to deal with. Great to have a local company to call on who are real experts.

Lordship Lane Post Office Closure
colville09 replied to Lyra123's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Like the banks, the post office is being allowed to get away with these closures. They could incorporate the promised ‘Banking Hubs’ that never materialise. Losing the Lordship Lane post office will really impact local vulnerable & elderly people especially. -
A big thank you to Banksy for trying again to give us a beautiful art piece. It looked great. Apologies for the scumbags. Maybe if you are ever Kind enough to think of us in future you could do a self destructing one that stains their sticky little fingers for a long time.

A big thank you and recommendation for Niko from me as well. A pleasure to deal with, so skilled and professional. When we have problems in the future, he will be my first call.

Really interesting R4 programme on this company - ‘You and Yours’ consumer programme today. They are tricking people into a business contract which is not protected by consumer rights. Put the phone down, by even talking to them you are entering into a verbal agreement which has cost people thousands of pounds to exit according to the programme.

Without fully thinking it through we recently agreed to be switched over and then had a nightmare of a month without Internet. They switched us over without actually making a physical connection to the fibre! BT were great but as the work is actually done by Openreach and they seem to have no control over them whatsoever, it was sheer chaos. Eventually we managed to be returned to our previous copper connection. I think they are totally unprepared and the digital system / equipment is unsuited to anyone older, with an alarm or without a smart phone. They won’t want to tell you but if you are older and have Certain health conditions, a personal alarm etc they have to make an exception to leave you as you are and not force a switch over till they stop the copper network sometime in 2025.

Local station ticket office survey - Labour Party
colville09 replied to Sue's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I had exactly the same experience as Jenijenjen with the Lib Dem petition of being added to The Lib Dem via database without my permission via James Barker. I had to ring their press office and complain. How cynical and arrogant of the Labour Party to exploit a real local concern to harvest email contacts. I despair… -
When we first moved into the area, going to the lido on a Sunday morning was great. Then lidos because unfashionable, Southwark concentrated on the indoor baths at Goose Green and it didn’t have a pressure group who championed it. The lido is still there, just filled in and the wooden changing rooms and entrance was taken down. If you look carefully there is a funny mound, this covers up a circular very 1930s fountain that stood at one end of it. You wouldn’t be starting to build a lido from scratch. It was really wonderful and would be brilliant to get it going again.

Damp proofing - Recommendation - Dave Reilly (Plastercare)
colville09 replied to Chapps's topic in Reviews
Can I add my recommendation for Dave Reilly. So skilled and knowledgeable, a real pleasure to deal with. A big big thank you to him for sorting our problem out this week, we felt in really good hands. -
Can I add my recommendation for Greg. He came and sorted out a problem we had this week. Beyond his excellence in thinking through what was needed and carrying out the work, he was an absolute pleasure to deal with. We look forward to asking him to create some storage units for us soon. Thank you again Greg, you are a real star!

Be aware of ‘distressed’ woman scammer
colville09 replied to colville09's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Yes, I’m sure it’s the same people. My friend (the first post in this thread) was bombarded by ‘funny’ follow up calls, after the original incident, that went on for days. Even if other people answered the phone, they tried to speak to her directly even pretending to be the police.. ‘my sergeant and I will be round tonight to catch the bad woman’. I suspect it’s a family enterprise. -
Be aware of ‘distressed’ woman scammer
colville09 replied to colville09's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Sounds absolutely like the same woman. The ‘talking on the phone to her mother and reference to Brighton’, same description. She is obviously targeting older women who she thinks live alone. Well done to your friend for getting away from her. -
Be aware of ‘distressed’ woman scammer

Thank you Pugwash, reported to Police at time, forensics gathered and SNT informed. These people are nasty, unsure what level of menace used so please please look out for them. X -
Last weekend a friend had the bad luck to cross paths with a woman con artist crying that she had been robbed. This was near East Dulwich station, this scumbag then took her to several cash machines before escorting her home and getting in her house. Unfortunately they still think they have found an easy mark so it does not stop here. So, please be aware of the ‘distressed’ woman approach but even more importantly if you see anything / anyone in odd behaviour around someone who might be vunerable please step in and challenge. If the person is genuine they will understand. These people can fool anyone but please trust your instincts and look out for others.
