  1. His kid used to go to the same school as me, and he lived in Brockley. That was over 10 years ago though, so he could well have moved.
  2. To be fair, I've only tried the carrot cake, and my own better half can throw something better together in half hour. I'm lucky ;-)
  3. Where once we watched the small rudeboys get high. la la la
  4. They also filmed loads of Desmond's around Rye Land and the park. Obviously Porkpie followed, but was a bit of a flop. Remember the Tango ad, it was by the pond with the boats. As for the cricket sitcom, was Timothy Spall in it? It rings a bell.
  5. No, went up to Liverpool for uni, and stayed a couple of years after. Actually I came back down in 2001 to train for my job, and really intended to go back up there ASAP, but SE London is home, and I couldn't deny it, so been back ever since. You can take a boy out of London...........
  6. Er, can I stay, I returned to Dulwich 5 years ago, after 5 years away, so I technically fit the rules :-S Not that I actually live in ED at the moment ;-)
  7. This is becoming a bit of a gang up on Louisa thing!!! If she preferred the area before, that's up to her, she's not alone (ask ibo and snorky). This forum is becoming dull, as every thread is ending up on this same topic!
  8. No we're not, we're talking since we used to all get very drunk in The Vile (the shame), and most of us have been barred from there for well over a year!
  9. Oh well, that'll put an end to that then... Was just trying to start a thread that wasn't about Whether Dulwich was better in the 80's or now (although I just proved we had films made in the 80's ;-) ). Know New Cross well, but can't think of where that is.
  10. Yeah, best "bar"... Lets meet in a pub! :)-D
  11. I don't do wrap rolls since Yilmaz got rubbish (td)
  12. Tom I can garuntee you that there are still plenty of drug dealers in Dulwich... They just wear suits these days! >:D< I remember there being a piano in the CPT when I was little and my dad took us there on Sundays (yeah I've really moved on inlife I know), but was too young to really remember anyone playing it..... These days we just bring guitars! B)
  13. By the way, it was a good film, worth a watch.
  14. Batdog mentioned in another thread "It was used to film a sequence of one of Stephen King?s movies in the 90's..." It got me thinking, can anyone think of films or TV shot in the area. I shall start... Mona Lisa (1986) starring Bob Hoskins, Robbie Coltrane, Cathy Tyson, and Michael Caine see HERE. for review. The opening scene has Bob Hoskins' character walking down Darrell Road and banging on the door of his ex, who he has a row with. There are a group of kids playing out on their bikes, who actually lived there (I knew one of them much later, and he was embarrassed about the huge afro he had in the film!). After that, Hoskins goes to see his mate (Robbie Coltrane) in his garage, which is actually the yard on Uplands Road, right opposite the end of Darrell (near the old Dulwich Music Shop). Not sure if Dulwich pops up again, it was years ago I last saw it, but those opening scenes are unmistakable! Anyone else think of any?
  15. Yeah, and I think that's genuinely a pity! Sing songs are fun... I'm only 28 by the way :)-D
  16. Think the 24th is okay with me. Agree EDT would be better, simply because the cherry gets very full!
  17. Mockney!!!!! Even I have banned myself from ever stooping as low as chicken donner!!!! No amount of drink should blur that mate (td)
  18. I can't do the 16th, as my band are playing at the Clapham Grand (tickets on sale now, HINT HINT HINT) ;-) Agree it might be good to mix up the evenings a bit, and would urge everyone to take the plunge and come along!
  19. Er, and the harbour, and the casinos... oh, and the Grand Prix.... Other than that yes, it's exactly the same... There are a few grand pr!cks walking around too ::o
  20. Michael Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Actually, no I'm sorry, they do worship something: > it happens to be money & commerce That's nothing new though, you only have to look at the history of pretty much any religious group to see that it didn't take long before it was all about money...
  21. You'd never have thought it, but it happened right HERE!!! Just goes to show that in the end we can all find some mutural ground... Lets share the love man >:D<
  22. And Yilmaz!!! Oh, and whatever was there before liquorice ;-) Sorry, but that's one bar I really don't like :-S
  23. Edwards in Camberwell has been there for years, and has enjoyed a good reputation. That said, I bought my bike there years ago, so not sure what it's like now....
  24. Huguenot Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Is the view against pedestrianisation just because > it represents change, or do people walking around > make the place look scruffy? No, you know full well Mr Huguenot that I'm not against change (unless it was turning the CPT in to a "bar" ;-) ). I just think that if Northcross Road were pedestrianised on the weekends, it would make driving around the area a nightmare (not that I drive), and it wouldn't be what I'd consider a good market..... Frankly, I think a lot of those stalls sell absolute tat, or mediocre cake at ?2.50-?3 a slither! I don't know, I guess it's nice having something there, but I'm not too keen on what they've got... My sister always says she gets filthy looks from everyone if she's trying to walk the dog down there! I think the dog has as much right to be there as the pram army taking up the pavement! I also have to say that the idea of pedestrianising Lordship Lane is insane!
  25. What's wrong with being educated anyway?!?!? I find that the guys I know who have most money to spend, and wear the newest, expensive clothes, tend to be the plumbers, builders and other tradesmen I know (and before I get my head bitten off, I'm not saying that a tradesman/woman is uneducated!). A lot of the people I know in "middle class" jobs, are always skint... me included!
