I've had this and when I said no thank you and shut the door, he started swearing at me and kicking at my door. I was quite anxious and called the police who came round and seemed to take it quite seriously. His introductory spiel was that this was a prisoner rehab effort. i had exactly this problem a couple of years ago. You can't make an appointment at Camberwell so have to queue to get an appointment and then come back. Nightmare. I don't understand how the family planning service works in Southwark.

Just before I start my whinge, I should say that I cycle commute to the City and only use my car once or twice a week. But I cannot believe the amount of road works which seem to hold me up wherever I try to go. The bottom of Rye Lane, which is causing sever delays at rush hour (also for bikes); the road works in Dulwich Village and now in Court Lane, the road works on College Road and on Sydenham Hill. They all seem to be taking forever, and I don't ever see anyone working on them.

I think the name is a poor choice. If you pronounce it properly with a French accent, you sound a bit poncy; if you say it without much of a french accent it sounds odd "terrwa"; if you decide you just want to say it, you come out with "terrors" or "terriors".

Have I read Gaynor's post correctly that this gentleman has no legs? Surely, surely, he must be a high priority for help? How can he possibly survive?

We've lived off LL on Melbourne Grove and now live at the bottom of Barry Road. We have the best of both worlds now: near the park, which is the big differentiator for us and a 20 minute walk to PR station (fabulous to the ginger line) Buses 12 and 63 take us to wherever we want (although slow). Cycling to the City takes 30 minutes (and I am safe and not speedy). Kids could cycle to school. LL's shops and cinema are a pleasant 10 minutes walk. We have the trendiness and vibrancy of Peckham at hand. Plus the houses are bigger, parking is easier and PR as a whole has more potential (house price growth) than LL, which has probably peaked. It would be a no-brainer for me.

Anyone can cook a roast chicken (my kids could when they were about 10), get ready to cook potatoes and veg (can be steamed in a microwave) from M&S and buy in a gu tart and ice cream. Or use Cook in West Dulwich (fab food) and just come clean about it.

i think it might be a while before she would be in a position to use a spa/massage voucher, so it might not really be that special. It depends how much you have in your budget, but I would have loved apiece of jewellery. You can get lovely personalised stuff on Notonthehighstreet.com or if you have a bigger budget (and depending on how many children you plan to have) maybe the first of a set of stacking rings... you sound like a lovely husband!

I agree wholeheartedly with DulwichLondoner. Those who refuse to have their children vaccinated because they "feel" or they "believe" are protected by the herd immunity of the majority of us who do vaccinate our children. If everyone did as they did we would be back to the days when thousands of children died or became disabled through measles, polio, diptheria etc. And yes, you can die from flu.

You sound like a great team, really looking forward to meeting you. I would love it if you could do some more salads and lunch type things. The Jade stuff was very carb heavy - which of course was their thing - and although being a local and itching to buy a take away lunch, there was nothing that I really fancied. Homemade did this well, but their unnecessarily low prices and labour intensive business model meant there was no way they could succeed. I hope you make a success of it, it has the potential to be a great local asset. Good luck!

Angelina, I think you may be setting yourself up for a lot of aggro and arguments, unless your daughter is an angel. From experience, talking openly and frankly about what she and her friends are doing so that you keep open lines of communication and mutual trust is the better way to go about it. Very soon she will see one of her friends being taken to hospital to have her stomach pumped and this will horrify her so much that she will see the distinct disadvantages of alcohol (it does happen - and generally to 16 year olds who smuggle spirits into parties - you would be horrified at what goes on, when parents are unprepared hosts).

What age is she? There is a big difference between 13 and 17 and how it is best to react.

Rye pub is great for a big party, even better if it's in the summer.
