    Have you checked that the water supply is turned on? Also it was so cold last night that the supply pipe could be frozen. I would call Thames Water - they're normally quite hepful.

    I don't they have that 'nurse call back' any more - you can call and book an appointment with one of the GPs, nurse practitioners, or practice nurses. They still have telephone appointments if you just need some telephone advice.

    Melbourne Grove also has four nurse practitoners and two practice nurses. Most of the practices round here are now run by independent providers on behalf of the NHS.

    Ok - I've heard about special all covering swimming suits that people can wear - not for performance and not wetsuits, but instead for cultural reasons.

    Are there any that restrict mixed gender swimming? Do any religious scrips say anything about this? I'm not sure.

    Bonjour, How much French knowledge would enable someone to join the group? Is it just mother tongue or near native French competence or can other mothers (?fathers) come along as well?

    I found the staff at Dulwich Leisure Centre to be helpful and polite. I stopped going Peckham Pulse as the staff were not helpful and often said the pool was full when there didn't actually seem to be very many people in it. Also the changing rooms do not seem to be cleaned at Peckham very often.

    Yes -I've been to the pool twice this week and it is lovely. They've done a really good job. I will be going swimming regularly there now. I agree about the changing tables and bins - must have been just childless men involved in the design - they'll have to be retrofitted.

    Thanks for the comments everybody - my initial post has sparked a lot of interesting, if not always objective debate. We will just have to keep our eyes on things and see how the school develops. Does anyone know where its pupils are typicaly coming from - is is just local recruitment, i.e. SE15 / SE22 - or are some coming from further afield?

    My son and his friend went to the circus at the weekend - they didn't report any cruelty to the animals. They have horses and Shetland ponies. They are kept in stables and are allowed to graze on the grass. They are moved around in a horse transporter. They don't have tigers, monkeys or other exotic animals - just some budgies.

    Does anybody know what this school is like? The building looks nice. It doesn't seem to have much outside space though. Do they do any sports in the park? Was the intake over-subscribed this year? Thank you

    Grove Vale pharmacy at the roundabout is open till 7:30.

    Ok - that's good, so after you have been in see one of the doctors or nurse practitioners at Melbourne Grove you can pop in and get your prescription dispensed (you could also have an ice cream whilst waiting from the ice cream parlour next door).
