  1. Cate, there wasn't the time for more classes, there were 7 as it was, as far as I'm aware the same dog didn't win twice, and why not have a retired dog trainer judge it? How on earth could you get the crowd to judge that number of dogs? As for the puppy thing, some larger breeds don't mature until 18 months to 2 years old and as you said its about raising money, more puppies entering, more money FUN FUN FUN!! Leaglebeagle, well done to your CKC and your little 4 year old :)) glad you were pleased! WOO HOO! Millie42 thanks for your offer of help next time, I'm sure it will be greatly appreciated, better luck with your Cocker next time too:) Watch this space when the fete committee ask for help next year, great ideas about small craft businesses getting involved etc. Usually, with bands, they want money from what I remember when I was on committee, we tried to get a steel band from a school once too, but because of the new school year being so close and a few other problems it didn't happen.
  2. Blimey Cate, are you taking the mick or what??? It was a FUN dog show!! If you have a puppy that is a bitch, surely it can be entered in both classes. Too many dogs to walk around, takes too long, the judge was a retired, dog trainer, a very good one at that, who volunteered to judge it. You do not need crudentials to judge a fun dog show ;-) As the saying goes, at the end of the day, ?136 was raised for two very deserving charities a good days work, and I'm sure the people who's dogs did win something on the day are quite pleased (tu)
  3. I think the people who arranged the fete did a stirling job. I was on the committee a few years back and the fete is bloody hard work to organise and on the day. The problem is that they need more volunteers and people to organise things. I agree that more games etc and things for kids would be good, but if there is no one to organise the games and man them, then what can they do? The fete meetings start early in the year, so if anyone wants to do games/stalls/volunteer etc join the fete committee and get stuck in:)) As for the Dog show, there are different judges every year, its down to the judge which dogs they pick, so maybe a class just for crossbreeds wouldn't be a bad idea, the dog show is VERY popular and is a definate crowd puller, I think the judge (another volunteer) did a good job. Please remember though, that eveyone who volunteered were simply that, volunteers who have given their time and hard work to make for a very pleasant day for everyone who attended. I for one enjoyed it>:D<
  4. Hi all, I found a small pair of glasses at the side of the Elms on the grass near the meadow. They are half rimmed at the top and small. If you have lost them, PM me they are in my car, If no response, I will take them to the rangers hut in the morning :)
  5. Aah, bless Jed and your dad. I only saw them a few times and never to talk to, but I always had a glance there way when passing by in my car etc. All the best to your dad x
  6. I agree with Kate and Katie. losing a much loved pet, is one of the worse things I have been through :( Having had 2 of my dogs for 14 years and 2 more to the ripe old age of 15, its heartbreaking when you finally lose them. I was lucky that mine died of old age, but to have one run over :(
  7. I too am sorry for your loss, its horrid losing an animal :( but well done pennydreadful, it can't have been easy for you either.
  8. Mean't to ask, where are the really good tattoo parlours, not too far away? Thanks :) am fancying another one!
  9. I am a 44 year old woman with 2 tattoo's and I love them, but I think one should wait until they are well over 30 to start getting them. Amy Winehouse yuk, but if nicely done, they are fab :)
  10. I hope it does entice the wild things :)) I think it looks gorgeous(tu)

  14. I agree Louisa. If I was a teenage boy (I'm not and never have been) I think I would be horrified if one of my friends whipped his thing out, I'd think he was really, really weird. Makes you wonder what he'll be like when he gets older :'( scarey.
  15. I don't think these boys were "just being silly" perverted little gits(6) Its very weird and strange for a teen to flash to someone, aren't teens usually embarressed about such things? This aint a dirty old man thing, Its horrid and if not stopped, they could do something worse. Hope your OK Daizie, this happened to my sister and I on 2 occasions when we were school girls, not nice at all. Hope they catch them quick.
  16. Thunder Road is my personal favourite, listen to Greetings from Asbury Park NJ and the Wild the Innocent and the E Street Shuffle, my 2 favourite albums followed by Born to Run. My husband introduced me to the Boss and I've not looked back (tu)
