Yes, big drama at 1am with all the neighbours out in their pjs. A guy set fire to the car and was subsequently arrested (I'm not sure how the police got him so quickly). Loads of police and a fire engine. We were all woken up by load bangs as the car was burning.

Just an update on this. I did go (well tried to). Drove there and no parking spaces anywhere so had to give up. Plus v narrow bendy roads around the park so had to reverse the full length of a road twice! There's lots of empty permit only bays but you can't pay to park there. If you plan to go, I recommend taking the 185 bus.

Thanks, v useful. I'll take a picnic then!

I'm thinking of going to Myatt's field today and wondered if anyone has been this year? Is the water on and is the cafe open?

Last race of the season for Silver Treasure on Thursday this week at Fontainbleu..... Big step up as its a LISTED race. ST will I think be a relative outsider in this one. Prize money for the first 5 horses home, so lets hope it can make the top 5, but that is a big ask, eg another horse that beat it at Chantilly is in the race and some others have big prize money to their names. Race details attached. Eurostar at the ready as due to it being the last race of 2013 we feel we have got to be there. http://www9.france-galop.com/fgweb/domaines/courses/courses_calendrier.aspx choose 21 November/Fonainbleu/Prix Zeddaan Whoops ..... posted on wrong login.

Can anyone tell me how i can get discounted tickets? The website tells you to join the internet club and get 30% off but when i went into the page the prices seem to be the same as on the leaflet but i might be missing something. I am sure in previous years some of the local shops have had 2 for 1 vouchers but i haven't seen any yet. Any info on this gratefully received.

former East Dulwich councillor - how can I help?
Judy2 replied to James Barber's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
James, I've just been reading your latest flyer and I wondered if you could answer: - How will the ?12 million for primary schools be spent and has this money been secured? Are there plans to build new primary schools and more importantly (to me) are there any plans to build any new secondary schools? - and (much less importantly) when will the 'newly refurbished Dulwich baths' be open? Thanks -

Who does Red Devil support - he should come clean. Celtic won again today. Hope Rangers have the champagne on sell or return.

Thanks Moos! If people really want to help me find somewhere on Lordship lane to get my shopping I should give my whole list of Loo roll, potatoes, cotton buds, eggs and cocktail sticks. I know I could go into four different shops to get these things but Coop would have been a good option! Looking forward to it opening - I am always happy to give something new a chance and having been very disappointed by the new Sainsbury local up near me, am keen to see what Coop has to offer.
-
Just didn't want to have to go to Sainsbury which takes half an hour to get from one side of the shop to the other. (It really is too big now). Iceland will have to do for today.
-
I won't join the debate on whether it is any good or not - I just want to know if it's open so I can go and my loo rolls and potatoes there today. Anybody know if it has re-opened or not?

What to do about all the dog pooh in Dulwich?
Judy2 replied to TonyQuinn's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I've been reading through the posts on this as this issue really bugs me. One of my daughter's first sentences was 'mind the dog poo' as she played the role of poo spotter from her pushchair as we took my older daughter to school (not something for the baby book!). I accompanied the same daughter and her class on a school outing to Dulwich library from Goodrich school last week and spent the whole time having to guide the children so they didn't step in any dog poo (at least 10 lots in that short journey). The different suggestions as to what could (and apparently is)done about the problem seem to include: - street cleaners to clean it up - leafleting - yellow signs on the pavements - fines - calling the council to report it. I have seen little evidence of the first two but think that both could really make a difference. If the street cleaners came daily (do they?) to the streets around Goodrich school it would make an enormous difference. I've never seen any leaflets but think they could make a difference if they point out the dangers - and the consequences of school children sitting on carpets spreading very dangerous bacteria around (although I recognise it's not just an issue for children). I don't like the yellow signs on the pavements as it looks awful and really don't think it can make any difference as the dog walkers know they are not supposed to do it (whereas the leaflets might at least make them feel a bit guilty). Fines would be great but I suspect it's very difficult to catch anyone in the act (I expect a lot of the fouling happens late at night when no-one is looking). I have tried calling the council several times but they certainly didn't respond within the promised hour (I saw no evidence that it had been done at all). I also asked for some posters to be put up on the railings outside Goodrich school (supported by the deputy head) but no-one got back to me. So if the councillors are reading then please can they reinforce the role of the street cleaners in cleaning up the dog mess and could we have some leafleting in and around the Goodrich school area? -
I just saw this message and would also encourage people to do this. I had a baby just before Christmas at Kings and although he was fine, I was very poorly and had to have major surgery within about 2 hours of giving birth. I was incredibly grateful that my midwife managed to get some donated breast milk for my baby rather than just giving him formula.

Will my husband be able to resist posting on the forum on Christmas Day?
Judy2 replied to Judy2's topic in The Lounge
Umm - I am also a golf widow. That can't be fair. Although to be fair to the husband, he has been a complete star for the last 10 days since our 3rd baby (a boy, after 2 girls) was born and has become a full time housewife (with a bit of EDF in between times). We had a very rocky ride for a while and it all got quite scary. I know this is not the place for sentimental comments but it's Christmas and I just want to say that I love him to bits and can't believe how well he has coped with everything that has been thrown him. (And I'll leave it to someone else to guess his identify!) (and incidentally, it will be the baby, not the bin men, waking me up from now on!).
