  6. If you're not a fan of it, why are you here? I don't go to Metallica gigs or to football matches for just that reason.

  13. Well the Persians have changed their tune. Today, it results in death: check out http://www.hrw.org/english/docs/2005/11/21/iran12072.htm or http://beirut.indymedia.org/ar/2005/07/2999.shtml or google "iran homosexuality" and take your pick of the wide choice. Veiled OT references? Well, wherever they might be, I think they're pretty much cancelled out by the blatantly homophobic (not to mention misogynystic and generally misanthropic) preachings of Leviticus. The Bible (particularly the OT) is the 2000+ year old cousin of the Daily Mail and the Sunday Sport all rolled up into one vile explosion of hatred, bigotry and stupidity. Yet people still choose religion? Well - fluff it up, promise eternal life and hey - all those people with AIDS deserve to die in pain and yes the planet can cope with all those children that you can't avoid because some wanker in Italy says contraception is a sin. Oops - maybe got a little OT.
  14. Good girl!
  15. Yes - I did some googling before I posted that and it's clear she did suffer from RA (amongst a host of other scary things that also don't come up in the show). Having said all that, I'm pretty sure you'll enjoy it, even if you do shed a tear. I was a total mess over "Parade" at the Donmar last year, but I still think it's one of the best shows ever!
  16. Sorry to hear that. It's not clear in the show that she suffered from RA (unless I missed something - it's quite fast-paced - I'm glad that, on a recommendation, I watched "La Vie en Rose" beforehand) - only that she got hooked from being "properly" medicated after a couple of car accidents. But the production doesn't pull any punches when it comes to dealing with the drug issue.
  17. The only time I ever wanted to throw my radio on the floor, stamp on it violently and then fling it hard through the window was a couple of years ago when they were interviewing Miliband (then Education Secretary or whatever) on the "exams are easier therefore more kids are passing" vs. "the kids are better educated so of course they'll get better marks" debate. His arguments (in the latter camp of course), and arrogant (you are stupid, I am clever - when in fact the exact opposite was true) tone were TOTALLY specious and infuriating! David (rapidly becoming grumpy old man) Mc!
  18. Piaf at the Donmar (transferring to the Vaudeville if you can't get tickets) is impressive.
  19. So, they've put cameras in Marmora Road

  21. For me it's the missing "the"!
  22. This article puts the number at 4.2m cameras http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/6524495.stm It also says that these talking cameras are to be installed in Southwark, so being ordered by some gimp in a monitoring centre telling you to "Stop picking your nose" may not be so far off!
  23. Stuff like this doesn't help either: http://www.christianvoice.org.uk/police.html
  24. I love it that your (MW74 note it's "your", not "you're") poo, traps, herbs, decking etc. provided a rich seam of comedy material to be mined at the Gut Rocking gig at the EDT last night. Excellent!
  25. Still on "To Sir With Love", I'm not really a Tina Arena fan - but my partner's appreciation of her brought this song to my attention. The song's a corker! I heard it done fabulously by Lulu at the Palladium for a Don Black (the lyricist) celebration recently. Anyway (best ignore the visuals and concentrate on the music), for what it's worth, Arena's version (with heavy Savage Garden influences I think): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_wHM8BS09zM
