  1. Thanks to all who posted suggestions and I will go and check out the Triathlon shop. However I am more of a "down to northcross road to do the shopping" cyclist than a 50km after a 20km swim, lycra-clad athlete. The point for me however is not to find somewhere to buy a new bike but to help me keep my 8-year old road bike running. I need someone who can supply parts for the things I can fix myself, do the jobs I can't and give it an overhaul once every couple of years. I've used Edwards, and would strongly recommend both Herne Hill Bicycles and Brixton Cycles. My only complaint is that it's a long way to wheel a broken bike to Herne Hill or Brixton. Even if I can ride there - just for a service say - it feels like a hassle to drop it off in the morning, get the bus home, take the bus back in the evening and then ride back. (have you ever waited for a 37? Twice in one day?) So, all you budding cyclentrepreneurs out there...spot that opportunity! not2late
  2. Ibo How long ago was that? I hope this won't put off any would-be cycle entrepreneurs. In the last few years, cycling in London has steadily grown in popularity and I am sure that East Dulwich is no different. Cycling rise story from BBC London
  3. ...a bicycle shop. Somewhere which sells bikes, parts, accessories and does repairs and servicing. Herne Hill Bicycles is great, as is Brixton Cycles but both are always booked weeks in advance. Plus there's the hassle of travelling back and forth on the bus after dropping my bike off. Judging by the number of cycists in the area, I'm sure that a good bike shop would do a brisk trade and there's lots of empty shops on side streets just waiting to be recuscitated.
  4. Well, having queued for thirty minutes with a streaming cold in arctic temperatures yesterday, I still think it was worth it to buy Xmas stilton from a man who doesnt just know about cheese...he knows what I like. Plus some crumbly mature gouda and a goats cheese yule log and something Spanish beginning with z. Now I actually have something to look forward to *after* christmas dinner (other than the Christmas pudding I couldn't face last year which is still suspiciously in date).
