  1. Hi Can anyone please recommend a good reliable house moving company? We have a lot of stuff! Thanks
  2. Hi We are looking for a either live in or live out au pair for looking after our three year old twin girls. Has anyone got any recommendations or have an au pair that has friends looking for work? We are in Brockley. Many Thanks Gemma
  3. Hi I'd like to also highly recommend Rob Payne Stonemason www.stonerejuvenation.co.uk We have just had our end of terrace Victorian house repointed in Brockley and had the bricks restored to their lovely golden yellow London brick colour. The once dingy brown side return wall which felt cold and dark is now bright, clean and shows all the original Victorian features e.g. paler bricks surrounding the arch of the door. The pointing uses the original materials recommended for these bricks (lime)and is done to a very neat high standard. Rob is very knowledgeable on using the correct materials and explaining what he is doing and why. Rob did the job quickly and cleanly and worked incredibly hard throughout and he really took pride in his work- perfecting defect bricks even on the garden wall!! Many of our neighbours have complimented the work and asked for his details. Restoring the bricks in this way can add considerable value to a property yet the quote was very reasonable compared to others- I can't see what the higher quotes would have given us that Rob didn't?!! Well done, Rob and THANK YOU!!!
  4. Hi I don't know if it was tree damage that caused it but i doubt it but we are at the bottom of a hill. Our structural engineer told us: Camberwell Dulwich areas area largely LONDON clay soil, combined with hills and there is a lot of subsidence in the area as a result. The flat was underpinned before we moved in and the council did it- there was little information provided to us by them about why- but the clues from reports told us that cracks consistent with subsidence would have lead to them doing it. Since the work was done no cracks have reappeared so we are glad that it was done. The council insure our property structurally as part of the service charge. We have not had a problem with contents insurance. Toulouse
  5. When did Southwark Council reduce the weekly collection of recycling and rubbish to fortnightly?!!!! My front garden already looks like a bin city- this is not regularly enough surely?
  6. Hi Subsidence is rife in this area- london clay soil, hills etc. i know as we bought a ground floor flat in the area that had been underpinned. You are better off buying one that has been underpinned than one that hasn't as it costs a fortune: ours was done by the council in the 1990s for ?84k and that was just the front of the property. good luck
