This will be a fantastic night, if you like blues! All three duos are at the top of their game, all amazing and all quite different! Advance tickets will be coming off sale mid afternoon tomorrow (so we can print off the ticket list and go to the venue) but tickets will be available on the door. Food poisoning at Dugard & Daughters - twice!
Sue replied to ArchieCarlos's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
If you thought they were off, would it not have been a good idea to have kept them rather than throwing them away, as evidence for Environmental Health or whoever? Or indeed the shop? And do you mean this is the third time you have bought chicken from the same shop which has been off? Have you told the shop? Why did you buy it again if you have twice previously had chicken from there which was off? Have I misunderstood? -
Crikey. I read his books when I was a child. My Family and Other Animals was the first one I read.

The wow factor. 🤮🤮🤮

Just had a delivery from Malabar Feast (in Maxted Road where the Ganapati takeaway used to be). It was absolutely delicious, really well cooked, very generous portions, reasonably priced and very speedy delivery (via Deliveroo but there are other options). Very highly recommended and we shall certainly be ordering from there again!

Memsaab raided by Immigration Enforcement.
Sue replied to adam16's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Yes that was my first reaction 🤣 -
A quick Google found this, amongst other things: "Social impact models are frameworks or approaches that guide how organizations or initiatives address social or environmental problems."

Crikey. How did you know it was Immigration Enforcement? -
If memory serves, there was rather more to things than that. Young people were being coerced in some way to sell these things by the people running the scam. I am guessing the relevant forum threads no longer exist, as this has been going on for decades round here, and I imagine in other places as well.

Yes but the point of saying "through" or "thru" is that it unambiguously includes Friday!!! "Monday to Friday" might or might not include Friday. "Monday through Friday" very clearly does include Friday. Nothing wrong with a useful expression that just happens to come from America, surely? Much of our modern language does originally, just as much of their language came from us originally. Times change, and all that ....

Advice please - sold item to a business who's now contesting the sale
Sue replied to Naiada's topic in The Lounge
I'd say sending them the affidavit and offering them a full refund for the return of the machines is a great idea. By far the least hassle for you, and will put them on the spot if they have been telling lies. If you end up having to give them the refund, you will be no worse off than you were before the sale (assuming they don't damage the machines, of course). But I know nothing about the legal issues (if any) around all this. Citizens Advice might help if you run into further difficulties? Good luck! -
The point is that these door to door sellers are doing it under false pretences, and claiming to be part of a project that doesn't exist.
-
There are several threads on here about door to door sellers with similar false stories, but I don't know what the thread headings were or how to find them. Someone else may have a better memory! No idea who to contact, possibly the police non urgent number, can't remember what it is, sorry.
