  1. In perfect working order, and in very good physical condition (never moved from desk). With original Apple power supply. Can deliver in Dulwich area if preferred. Full specifications here: https://support.apple.com/kb/sp650?locale=en_GB
  2. Can anyone tell me of Pickleball courts open to public near Dulwich? Interesting article in Sunday Times by J Clarkson today. Thank you.
  3. I am looking for someone to advise on the purchase of a workshop shed approx. 7m x 3m, and its installation on a site in Canning Town (next to St Margaret's Church). The workshop will need to have multiple power points, and running water. The work is for a registered charity. If you have experience of this work, please respond with a phone number I can call you on. Francis
  4. I am looking to create a small debating society (5 people?) to meet regularly (weekly?) in a conference room in the East Dulwich area. I will pay for the room, and for some drinks and light refreshment. In return, I will chair the meeting, in order that every participant gets a fair share of the discussion, and that off-the-point or long-winded monologues are curtailed. At the meeting’s conclusion, I hope everyone will have learnt something, and that their opinions might be better informed. In return, I am looking for people with some (or all!) of these qualities: * A curiosity about one or more of the following subjects: economics, culture, politics, history, society. * A knowledge that goes beyond the BBC’s free webpage, The Guardian or the Daily Mail. * An ability to hear and challenge (respectfully) opinions which you might strongly oppose. For example, that the British Empire was a force for good, or that children should be allowed and helped to change their gender. * An interest in debate. For some people, this is just ‘arguing’ - and pointless. Some people just cannot imagine changing their opinions. Further information: I currently attend a weekly meeting called 'Club Philo' in the French Institute (Knightsbridge) where a group of about 20 discuss a subject proposed by one of the attendees. Subjects to be discussed will be decided by the attendees. Nobody is expected to stand up and give a speech. We are sitting down, behind our glass of wine/beer. Please respond or DM (direct mail) me to express an interest or for more details. Otherwise: Francis
  5. I am looking for someone who can repair a Lamona built-in oven. The heating element sometimes does not switch on (although the light and fan work normally). If I twiddle the switches long enough it normally comes on. I am in East Dulwich Grove, SE22 8PU
  6. Provided you have a wired keyboard, try restarting holding down the Command key (to left of space bar) and the R key. Keep holding until you see a list of options. You need to be connected to the internet (wifi or Ethernet cable). One should be 'restore Mac OS'. This will take at least 3 - 4 hours. If this does not work you can call me on 07973 269654 (East Dulwich).
  7. I am looking for an illustrator or cartoonist, mainly line drawing, to create light hearted advertising material. As an example of the style, please see the attached. Based in East Dulwich - so happy to meet or discuss on phone.
  8. I offer a home visit service to put all your real printed photos onto your computer (Mac or Windows). This is usually a laborious business - lifting the scanner lid, placing the photo, lowering the lid, clicking 'scan' etc. I use a special 'photo scanner' which can scan up to 10 photos a minute, including any writing on the back of the photo. Depending on your preference, I can install the software on your computer to run the scans, or on mine with an external hard drive, which we then use to copy the pictures onto your computer. Why do this? 1. Real photos slowly lose their quality over time. Scanned at high resolution (eg 600 dpi), their quality is 'fixed' for ever. 2. Safety - real photos can be lost or accidentally destroyed. As well as storing your photos on your computer, they are also stored in the cloud - where they can never be lost. 3. Enjoyment. Unlike physical photo albums (or shoe boxes), digital photos are much easier to find and display in different groupings (or 'albums). And since most people have a large screen TV, why not also show them on this? 4. Sharing. Choose the photos you want to share with family or friends, using services such as Apple, Amazon, Microsoft or Dropbox. If interested, we would need to first discuss the service you require. Options are: ? I use my computer, scan onto an external drive, which I give to you. I do all the scanning, in your home. ? I use your computer (after installing the software it requires). I teach you how to do the scanning, and most importantly, how to organise the photos once they are on your computer. You keep the scanner for as long as it takes. Some prices. Examples ? my computer and the scanner, in your home. One hour to arrange installation (including cloud backup), explain process, arrange photos to be scanned. Two hours scanning - between 600 to 1,000 photos. ?120. ? your computer, my scanner. One hour to install software, teach you how it works. Scanner left in your house for the rest of the day. ?80 (plus a deposit for the scanner). About me: I have many years experience teaching and introducing adults (usually mature!) to technology - particularly Apple. Attached is an ad I used to run in The Spectator. As well as getting your photos scanned, you will almost certainly learn some useful things about computers (or iPads, or phones). I live in East Dulwich. If you are interested, please send me a message, with your phone number and a day and time when I could call you to discuss.
  9. I am looking for someone to give me online tuition to create a personal web site using GoDaddy and Wordpress. Must be able to arrange screen sharing (eg. TeamViewer). I am very flexible about time (7.30 am - 9 pm). Happy to pay immediately, but would need an invoice. If quicker, please call me on 07973 269654. Francis
  10. I can almost certainly help you - lots of experience helping and training adults to use technology. Is your original computer Windows or Mac? I would strongly recommend getting an Apple laptop - either recent used, or new. More expensive but will last a long time, and very reliable. I could help from next Friday, or you are welcome to call me on 07973 269654 Francis
  11. I am looking for someone who can convert Mini DV tapes to a digital format (cloud, DVD etc). 6 tapes of 1 hour each. Preferably in Southwark area.
  12. I have one - new - which displays only a few marks on screen. Have done all the obvious (shorted connections, replaced batteries). If you can make it work, happily pay your costs.
  13. I am looking for personal tuition on the Nikon D5300 camera. I live in East Dulwich but could travel. Please contact me if you know this sort of camera well, and can teach. Knowledge of GoPro cameras would also be very useful. Francis
  14. I am looking for an electrical technician who could design and make a pressure sensitive switch for a person without any physical strength or control (MND). The switch is to activate an alarm (to call for help). I am happy to pay a serious premium for a fast and effective result (not attempt). Money is not the problem - it is finding a person with imagination and determination. If you think you can help, please call me on 07973 269654 Francis
