As hard as it is with some individuals, try not to feel invalidated by them. You don't need to be told how to communicate. They're the ones with that particular failure (If anyone is offended or about to bristle in response then you already know it's you I mean). As much as I support the protection of wildlife from predators its incredibly important not to don a feline chum with any old collar. Collars can be a hazard to cats. They can easily get caught on things resulting in choking. If cat owners really must use a collar, consider one that is quick release or of the paper kind (yes I know they wont last long).
