  1. ?Sustainable farmers? ?Small independent growers? Lol You enjoy throwing your money away on that then? sounds like you MAY have ended up with too much anyway! 🤣
  2. well phraseology aside, not so ?loopy? I?ve called out a shameless lie (In my private opinion based on evidence at hand etc etc etc)
  3. Dogkennelhillbilly Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I'd lay off this bit - it makes you sound like > some kind of loopy case that's been watching the > outside of the pub through a telescope while > hidden in the chicken shop's wheelie bin. ?loopy case? what era does that phrase from? 1950s? Or 1930s? 🤣🤣🤣 What what old sport harumph harrumph
  4. -IanR Lovin? your work 🥰 (a) I?m not a mathematician. But thanks for quantifing it! (b) In layman?s speak: ?an extremely highly unlikely coincidence - which - is in effect to all intents & purposes impossible?. © Boris hasn?t done too badly for himself has he? (d) Boris doesn?t have the decency unlike me to wink after his pronouncements. I?ve posted another opinion on one other thread today, don?t forget to find that to rubbish as well 😉
  5. Feel sorry for the Marks & Sparks opposite They do a lot of sandwich / lunch trade But can?t offer nice place to sit & relax like prets literally opposite can 😔😔😔
  6. Just to clarify, I am more concerned about the false reason given on its notices posted up in the windows. These were plainly false. Took pictures of these fake signs. The problem therein:- + if the landlord thinks it?s ok to write brazen barefaced lies to customers & public it is more likely he WAS also discriminating against the traveller community + the landlord needs to be a ?fit & proper? person to be granted a licence by Southwark council licensing committee in conjunction with the police etc - but writes brazen lies on posters displayed to public? + if lies / deception considered ok, what are customers maybe being told/informed about their drinks &/or food? As explained residents next door saw no gas van, tradesman, or any van or were not issued with any safety warning (suspected gas leaks lead to whole street evacuations)ON THAT THURSDAY EVENING OR FRIDAY MORNING up until these ?scary? signs were taken down. It?s possible I?m wrong & this nevertheless was the truth? but would be trillion trillion trillion to one coincidence wouldn?t it? (My own opinion - blah blah blah - personal view - not the view of the EDF - without prejudice - disclaimer) 😉
  7. The ?3 for a microscopic cup? I agree Know the cups you mean they really are absolutely minuscule(🙄). Maybe, like the Mayfair-hotel-on-steroids prices in Cherry Tree ?Gastro Pub? (🤣), they also think, ?well East Dulwich, well-to-do locals are all filthy rich, they can afford it, so proceed to fleece to the max? rich fools soon parted with their money? etc etc Totally wrongly of course Even ?3.25 for a NORMAL cup is on the toppy side INMHO, but at least you get a normal size! Sometimes SOME NOT ALL independents are their own worst enemy? when prets will do a normal size latt? for around ?2, how will they be able to justify charging ?3 for a drink half the size???
  8. Legally speaking a pub is private property so they have a unaliable right over who is allowed on their premises. Rightly or wrongly that might be in the current culture. The point being why tell unnecessary lies about a ?Gas Leak?? Shows contempt for the public, lack of decency & almost a glee in what they are doing doesn?t it Wonder if I will go in there again with management like this 😔
  9. -Bilksy Get the point you are making, but if I might say, think your position is a bit na?ve. Unfortunately in ?capitalist-anything-goes Britain? companies have free reign - & often engage in - predatory practices. Which they are under the law perfectly entitled to do. These include temporary undercutting / loss pricing to specifically close smaller independents without huge finance behind them or market capture that is opening a loss making branch to prevent competitors getting a foothold. So what could happen is that ?more? for ED locals, in the long run, means ?less?. Would be nice to think net result of new Prets would ?add to the flourishing eclectic range of shops, caf?s, pubs & restaurants? though? even if I am somewhat doubtful set against prior experience 🧐
  10. Well after much consideration my own personal opinion is that the ?Gas Leak? single day temporary closure, on the evidence, WAS a lie. That is most likely because of plain & simple discrimination against the Traveller Community. If I can be shown evidence from a gas engineer/ fire brigade to the contrary, I?ll happily change my opinion. That being said a business telling lies to the public? looks like the new manager isn?t much better. ?Gas leak? sounds a bit of a fake excuse. Why not just say ?Temporary Closure. Apologies?? Why the disrespectful silly lies? Makes you wonder what else they?re up to, hey? what goes on out of sight, before your drink &/or food gets brought out. 😱😱😱 eek!
  11. - Zak you don?t work in Pret PR dept? 😉😉😉 Also before we stand outside our front doors to clap Pret a la NHS style? where are they paying tax? 🧐🧐🧐
  12. False closure theory Well my friend who lives opposite cherry tree told me NO British Gas vehicle or trade vehicle or emergency vehicle turned up there Thursday or Friday morning whatsoever. His window FACES the pub. Reopened Friday as normal. Curious & curiouser. Prices Of course breweries are facing huge cost pressures but this applies to all pubs & bars. As of today Saturday the Cherry Tree is completely empty - Sat 1740hrs - whereas at the exact same time the EDT is overflowing with drinkers filling all outside seating. They don?t charge anywhere near as much so make your own conclusions.
  13. Prets is actually owned by MacDonalds Corporation isn?t it? Hope they will offer Toilets, WIFI, USB phone/tablet Charging & Air Con!!! We just have to accept soulless chain stores don?t we? Bulk centralised purchasing, massive mass marketing & huge financial power suffocating out all competition in every locality. Welcome to Boris Britain. Given that?s the case, suppose we have to be grateful hey? Anyone remember La Scala caf? (closed 2 years ago)? Was the perfect independent coffee shop. Literally perfect? 😢
  14. Cherry Tree Pub on Grove Vale NEWSFLASH Tonight, Thursday 21st April CLOSURE ?Pub Closed due to Kitchen Gas Leak? Hmmm. Sure that?s not because of no customers due to stratospheric prices?🧐🧐🧐 Only joking? love the cherry tree especially staff members Will & Leo, really top guys!😉😉😉 Alternatives: East Dulwich Tavern Lordship Lane roundabout 2 minutes further down Grove Vale Or The Fox on the Hill Wetherspoon 42 bus get off Champion Hill 185, 176, 40, 484 bus get off Denmark Hill Hope Cherry Tree reopens soon Management: Maybe an opportunity to reduce those prices a bit? 😜 Happy Drinking EDF-ers 🍻🍻🙂
