  1. How often do people get their houses serviced? Someone put a leaflet about house checks through my letter box the other day. It looks really good - for £25 a month they’ll come every 6 months to check everything in your house is working ok and doesn’t need mending or replacing so you don’t have to worry about checking things yourself, like lifting up the carpet to check the underlay is working or if the thermostats dials are moving as expected. And if something needs doing, for a fixed fee of £150 they’ll sort it out (materials extra).
  2. Ironically I think it’s mostly due to Brexit.
  3. Good question - I’ve been thinking about getting a solar array installed in one of the gardens behind my house. I’ve had my lofts fully converted so can’t put panels up there.
  4. Yes, you’re probably right. I have a wood burner at home, maybe I should stop using it.
  5. I have just the thing for crusty white bread - craft butter! I’ve been making small batch craft butter artisian wrapped in muslin and hand tied - I’ll be selling it at the Cheese Block and also at my new pop-up stall on North Cross Road on Saturdays. It’s called ‘Bob’s Best Butter’.
  6. Apparently FM is transitioning from wood fuel to gas fuel. What are people’s thoughts on this change?
  7. Great thank you both - that’s most helpful advice :)
  8. Just thinking ahead to 6th Form options for my youngest in case he can’t get into a local 6th Form such as Charter East, Charter North, or Kingsdale because their published admission number is just 30 each for external applicants. I was wondering about one of the Central London colleges like Westminster Kingsway, City of Westminster, or CANDI - do any local 16-18s go to those Central London colleges?

  10. I can only eat and drink craft-based food and drink like Northern Monk pale ale or a artisan loaves - I get terrible dyspepsia with mass produced food.
  11. I really vintage Edam - very flavoursome. I?ve been using it for cutting Shropshire Blue.
  12. I got a great new cheese knife from the smelly French cheese stall in Borough Market - it?s a diamond cut Japanese steel cheese knife with a double serrated edge that obliquely cuts the cheese to bring out the flavour. And it?s cunningly made to look like a normal dinner knife so you don?t feel pretentious when using it. And it was reduced from ?99 to ?75! And it came in a recycled cardboard presentation box.
