    Tiny  Home Childminder looking to employ  an assistant .
     
     
    Days-Monday- Wednesday
    Hours- 8am-5.30pm
    Start Date- (Asap)
    (For the right applicant hours may be slightly adjusted)
    ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    Main Responsibilities
    Working with Children and the Curriculum
    • to facilitate fun, age-appropriate play and learning opportunities
    • to ensure that the children’s learning, development and care needs are continually met
    • to provide support, encouragement and to scaffold learning in all areas of the children’s development
    • to know about the seven areas of learning from the EYFS Framework and use these to enhance children’s play
    • to supervise outdoor play activities in all weathers
    • to contribute towards the planning, preparation and delivery of an engaging curriculum
    • to observe children and monitor their progress
    • to support inclusivity, ensuring that all children’s needs are being met equally, regardless of their background, gender, ethnicity, age, needs and abilities
    • to be aware of any special needs that children may have and share this information confidentially with other members of staff, as detailed in the employer’s policies
    • to be a good role model to the children at all times
    • to be in sole charge of children, as required (maximum of two hours per day, within legal ratios)
    Working with Parents and Colleagues
    • to share details key to children’s learning, progress and next steps with other staff members and the children’s parents/carers
    • where appropriate, arrange and attend parent/carer meetings to allow regular discussions about a child’s progress
    • to work alongside childminder, communicating in a friendly and sensitive manner
    • demonstrate a professional attitude when communicating with parents/carers and colleagues
    • to offer support and make suggestions, where appropriate
    Safeguarding and Health and Safety
    • to follow the setting’s safeguarding procedures so that children are kept safe and well
    • to share any safeguarding concerns immediately with the setting’s Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL)
    • to keep all children safe and healthy through adequate supervision, as well as following policies and procedures
    • to administer and record first aid, as required
    • to meet children’s dietary needs, including allergies, by preparing appropriate, healthy snacks, meals and drinks
    • to help ensure all toys and equipment are kept safe and clean
    Other duties
    • to be fully aware of the employer’s policies and procedures and adhere to them at all times
    • to complete any necessary paperwork/admin, as required by the employer
    • to observe and feed back on children’s learning and progress, including contributing towards 2-year-old progress checks
    • to keep up to date with current good practice
    • to attend any training events required by the employer
    • to perform any other duties deemed necessary by the employer on a daily basis
    QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
    Essential
    • Full 12-Hour Paediatric First Aid Certificate (Or willing to attend training)
    • Enhanced DBS Certificate (Must be willing to apply for a DBS on offer of employment)
    • Letter of ‘Suitability’ from Ofsted (To be given once all checks are complete)
    Desirable
    • Evidence of Continuous Professional Development or training relevant to the role
    • Full driving licence
    KNOWLEDGE
    Essential
    • Basic child development
    • EYFS Framework
    • Safeguarding qualification (Or willing to attend training)
    Desirable
    • Birth to 5
    • Government childcare courses
    EXPERIENCE
    Essential
    • Previous experience in caring for children
    Desirable
    • Previous experience in a professional childcare setting
    SKILLS
    Essential
    • Effective verbal communication skills (using appropriate language and good spoken English)
    • Written skills (legible handwriting, good use of English language)
    • Good at teamwork
    Desirable
    • Basic ICT skills (using cameras, phone apps, tablets, etc.)
    • Good time management and organisational skills
