    Role Description 

     

    To liaise with team members, Buildings and Facilities Committee, Churchwarden and Southwark Diocese to identify and implement a programme of building and maintenance works  

     To oversee the smooth running and maintenance of the building and building maintenance projects, including the inspection of completed work of maintenance contractors   

     To ensure the Centre’s compliance with Health and Safety and Fire Safety legislation and ensure that the relevant policies and procedures relating to the building are updated 

     To oversee the recommendations of the 2024 Quinquennial inspection report and their implementation

     To oversee the recommendations of the 2024 Eco-Audit and their implementation 

     To ensure all annual maintenance, utility and insurance contracts, and necessary periodic services are scheduled and completed 

     To coordinate and record risk assessments for the building and centre activities 

     To be one of the Fire Marshalls for the Centre 

     To facilitate and minute three-monthly Buildings and Facilities Committee meetings

     To assist with the setting up of facilities for internal and external hires, including porterage and audio-visual equipment 

     To contribute to the development of funding applications where relevant to the building and facilities and oversee the necessary reporting requirements 

     To prepare and manage a building maintenance, caretaking and hire budget  

     To provide basic IT support and manage the organisation’s IT contract  

     To attend and provide maintenance and hire reports for Trustee meetings  

     To support the Administration Coordinator on programme and premises hires and long-term rental contracts   

     To support the Administration Coordinator in overseeing the day-to-day financial systems including cashflow and annual budgets in relation to hires, maintenance, utilities and IT 

     To be the primary key holder responsible for matters relating to security and access, including out-of-office requirements 

     To co-operate with Trustees, staff and volunteers on the vision and strategic development of the Centre, including the advancement of the building development plans

     To assume any other duties as agreed which are necessary for the fulfilment of the aims and objectives and future development of the Centre.  

     

     Person Specification 

     Essential 

     At least two years’ experience of building and/or facilities management in a diverse community setting  

     Demonstrable experience of, and a commitment to, working with diverse communities and a commitment to equality of opportunity 

     Demonstrable experience of dealing with premises hire, facilities maintenance and cleaning and managing relevant contracts   

     Demonstrable experience of financial management, including annual budgets, day-to-day systems, and cash flow 

     An up-to-date knowledge of Health & Safety and Fire Safety legislation and compliance 

     Demonstrable experience of overseeing and updating organisational policies and procedures relating to facilities management 

     IT literate including Microsoft - Word, OneDrive, Outlook, Excel 

     Demonstrable experience of working as part of a team and independently   

     Ability to write and present reports   

     Ability to set up for hires, including porterage and audio-visual equipment  

     A commitment to supporting the organisation to implement the recommendations of its Eco Audit 

     

    Desirable 

     Experience of fundraising for maintenance and building projects 

     Experience and understanding of implementing policies and practice that contribute to a carbon neutral agenda 

     Sympathy with a Christian and inclusive ethos
