Family Festival: Winter Light

    

Join us for the winter Family Festival inspired by the work of artist Peter Paul Rubens.  

 

Find out how Rubens used light and movement in his paintings and discover the ways he used colour to explore different emotions.  

 

Workshops will include sketching classes, fashion catwalks and trails around the Gallery.

Activities and timings for the day: 

 

Dress and Draw    

Dress up in costume and create a sustainable outfit fit for a King or Queen. Parade your costume thorough the gallery.   

   

Playful portraits    

11:00 – 11:45, 12:15 –13:00 Lunch 14:00 – 14:45, 15:10 – 16:00

In this painting workshop children are encouraged to lead the narrative of designing their portrait to make surreal stories.  

   

In this workshop you will work with each other to design your own playful portraits and get inspired by Ruben’s stories to create your own surreal stories.    

   

   

Adventure Trail   
Hourly from 11.00am–3.00pm  
In Gallery 1 (first-come, first-served) 
 

Join us for a sensory walk: looking, touching, smelling and listening your way through the Gallery. Places on walks are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Please meet in Gallery 1 for the beginning of the walk.

Got a very little one with you? Come and explore the colour red in this quiet, sensory space. Explore different objects, look at our paintings, and relax. 
 

(for ages 6months – 3yrs)   

 

Quiet Space  
10:00am-4:00pm 
In the Linbury Room 
 

Explore colour and textures in this quieter space with a relaxed approach to noise and movement, you are free to enter and exit as needed. A chill-out space and noise-cancelling headphones are also available for both adults and children In the Linbury Room.  

 

The Quiet Space will be available for a relaxed opening from 10.00-11.00. This relaxed session is suitable for any family who would like to visit the festival at a quieter time. To book a space please email learning@dulwichpicturegallery.org.uk
